Donor Close Up
I am always in awe of the generosity of our donors and I thank God for their sacrifices and support for the Acholi people in the recovering region of Northern Uganda.
Often I am struck by the way God works in the lives of people and motivates them to help.
In the case of my friend and fellow St. John Vianney parishioner, Diane Kneile, it was through a book she read. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, is the true story of a young boy in Malawi, who made a windmill out of old materials found in a junkyard to produce electricity in his family’s house and later a solar powered water pump to supply the first drinking water in his village. In the book, the boy’s mother gets malaria and just about when Diane got to that part of the book, she got our email about the outbreak of malaria in Northern Uganda. In her note to me, she said, “Call it fate of a sign but I had to help in any small way I can.” It turns out she helped in a big way. Thanks, Diane, for being mindful of the signs the sign given to you!!!! You have truly made a difference.
